Four people were shot dead outside the Washington Nationals baseball stadium by Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Some fans and players were looking for cover in a professional baseball game in Washington on Saturday night when gunfire filled the stadium, and police later said four people were shot outside.

Fans were initially unsure whether it was within the complex shooting range. Videos of the event shared on social media showed that some fans were piling up in the third base hole.

The District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department earlier said on Twitter that the two men had been shot outside the front yard.

He later said in a follow-up tweet that “two more victims associated with the incident were admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment of gunshot wounds.”

The Washington Post reported that a man was shot in the leg and a woman was shot in the back, the injuries said they did not endanger her life.

The baseball game between the Washington Nationals and the San Diego Padres was interrupted as a result of the shooting. The game is expected to resume on Sunday, followed by a regularly scheduled game.

The shooting occurred at the sixth entrance.
