LONDON (Reuters) – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his finance minister Rishi Suna will be limited to working from their offices and will undergo daily COVID-19 tests after being identified as contacting someone who has tested positive for the virus.
Health Minister Sajid Javid said on Saturday that he had tested positive for COVID-19.
“They have contacted the Prime Minister and the Chancellor with NHS Test and Trace as a contact for someone who has been positive for Covid,” Johnsons ’Downing Street office said on Sunday.
Typically, anyone who identifies as a contact with the tracing scheme should be isolated by law for 10 days.
However, the two prime ministers of the government will take part in a pilot investigation that will allow them to continue working from their offices and will only be isolated when they are not working.
“They will take part in daily contact tests to continue working from Downing Street,” Downing Street said. “They will only do key government business during that period.”
