1. What’s the average lifespan of an HVAC unit? Furnaces tend to last 15 to 20 years, and air conditioning units and heat pumps have a life expectancy of 10 to 12 years. This is important from the perspective that if you’re considering an equipment replacement, but your system is well under those age limits, you might want to dig deeper into what’s wrong with the equipment. It may be that a repair will be more cost-effective than replacing the components. Of course, if you’re replacing inefficient systems with new, high-efficiency equipment, any time is a good time!
