WrestleMania 37 is on the horizon, so it’s time to kick off the festivities this weekend Royal Rumble. On Sunday night, 30 men and 30 women will compete in their respective Royal Rumble matches, with the main goal of being the challenge to win a world championship in the biggest stage of WrestleMania. The most exciting time of the year to become a fan of professional wrestling has arrived.

In addition to the two Royal Rumble matches, there are currently two match titles confirmed for the event. Roman Reigns will defend the universal championship against Kevin Owens in a Last Man Standing match, and the legendary Goldberg will return to the ring for the first time from WrestleMania 36 to face WWE Champion Drew McIntyre.

The Royal Rumble will begin at 7pm on ET on Sunday, January 31st, with the show scheduled to last 3-4 hours, not counting the opening session, as CBS Sports will start at 6pm before the main ticket. stay with us on Sunday with live video results, highlights and analysis.

For now, let’s see how our experts play Royal Rumble this Sunday.

2021 WWE Royal Rumble Predictions

Women’s Tag Team Championship: Asuka & Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax

It was ridiculous to put the titles on Asuka & Flair in the first place, given that they are mixed up in individual stories, it makes even less sense to keep the strap on. Baszler and Jax performed brilliantly as champions and had a nice setup with Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke. With muscular friends now healthy and back in action, it would be hysterical – albeit disappointing – for WWE to return the titles to the heel, but I think they will do just that themselves, completely removing any value from the current title of champions. Selection: Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler won the titles – Adam Silverstein (also Brent Brookhouse)

Women’s SmackDown Tournament: Sasha Banks (c) vs. Carmella

Carmella has done a good job on her current heel, and there is no denying that she has improved as a performer. Having said all that, Banks is finally having a reign of title, where he has managed to really defend the title. It’s hard to see that his run is coming to an end against Carmella which has been his first true story after winning Bayley’s belt. Banks is an attractive champion to go to WrestleMania, and it looks like the match that appears in the champion role is a bigger deal than Carmella. There doesn’t seem to be much mystery. Selection: Sasha Banks holds the title – Brookhouse (also Silverstein)

World Championship: Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens (The Last Men Standing)

As much fun as Owens has won, we find it completely unrealistic to expect WWE to cut before Reings ’WrestleMania. Reigns has been the company’s best attraction since returning to SummerSlam and Owens has played a good role in recent months, but has never seemed threatened with winning Reigns. A game of Last Standing Man provides some solutions to keep Owens strong (interference from Jey Uso), but he won’t come out as a universal champion. Select: Roman Reigns retains the title – Brookhouse (also Silverstein)

WWE Tournament: Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Goldberg

Fans were quite upset when Goldberg Legends Night was created to deal with McIntyre, especially since the line-up for the game didn’t make sense. With McIntyre out of COVID-19 for two weeks, the fan’s unwanted temperature cooled, but he still had no interest in this match. Although Goldberg has twice beaten Kevin Owens and “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt on the heel, and WWE is building this tournament the only world title Goldberg has ever won – it would make absolutely no sense to put him above the company he has built over the last year. child. This should be a short game with McIntyre to overcome the early offense against Goldberg, keep the title and at least keep it until WrestleMania. Selection: Drew McIntyre retains the title – Silverstein (also Brookhouse)

Women’s Royal Rumble match

There are plenty of viable chances to win the game, but Belair doesn’t get any of what he would get if he won. He’s a long-time talent, he needs the right story to become a major event player. Belair once again shows strength and athleticism in Rumble, while surpassing all other women, he immediately sets in the title picture much better than the clumsy rivalry with Bayley. Selection: Bianca Belair wins – Brookhouse (also Silverstein)

Men’s Royal Rumble match

If WWE loves to do something, it’s to give the top spots to legends at the biggest PPV events of the year. That’s why Goldberg is ahead of McIntyre, which is why Goldberg won a world title before last year’s WrestleMania. That’s why The Rock’s name was tied to Reigns for WrestleMania, before the lack of live crowds seemed like that. Edge didn’t return to being a full-time talent, but he seemed ready to be in big places all year. If WWE wanted to deal a big blow to an underdog at WrestleMania to face Reigns, Edge would mark a lot of the boxes they were looking for. Daniel Bryan would also fit in well with the bill, but there’s an itch in his head, saying Edge gets a good moment and a Mania slot. Choose: Edge wins – Brookhouse

Edge felt that the surprise moment announced for his return to the WWE and his inclusion in the Royal Rumble Raw was wasted, even though we got it at this event last year, but it added a level of intrigue to Edge’s Edge (as planned above) it would make a lot of sense as a Royal Rumble winner and future McIntyre challenger. However, before Edge’s announcement, I thought WWE would move in the best possible direction of the reserve, which Bryan puts in the match as a challenge for WrestleMania from Roman Reigns. There’s a story between Bryan and Reigns from 2014, when Bryan made the long-awaited return to the Royal Rumble, just as Reigns went on to win the whole thing. The fans revolted, and that moment was the cause of constant grief as he faced Reigns.

Seven years later, with Reigns on his heels, WWE can easily step back and play that story. We saw the interactions between Bryan, Reigns and Jey Uso a couple of months ago, and I think those were planting the seeds for the WrestleMania Trail. There are other legitimate chances to win this game, but Bryan makes the most sense. He could still win a shot at Reigns through the elimination chamber, but why waste the perfect story? Selection: Daniel Bryan wins – Silverstein
