Details of the shooting in the California train yard are still unclear, but officials say the shooter is among the dead.

U.S. state officials in California say a massive shooting in San Jose has left several people dead, including the shooter, and several others injured, but the exact circumstances of the incident are unclear.

The shooting occurred at the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) train yard on Wednesday morning.

The railroad yard is next to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department.

“We have a lot of casualties at the moment and we have several dead,” Sheriff’s deputy Russell Davis told reporters, adding that “several people are being cared for.”

Davis said he could not provide further details about the shooting, but said the investigators were “trying to guess exactly what happened.”

A mother of a VTA employee told KTVU television that her son said the shooting occurred at a union meeting, although authorities did not confirm the report.

The San Jose Mercury News reported that the first news of the shooting arrived at 06:34 (13:34 GMT).

“The shooting at the VTA facility in Younger St has taken care of several people, but the situation is still being assessed,” San License Mayor Sam Liccardo tweeted after 8 a.m. local time (3:00 p.m.

“The shooter is no longer a threat, and the facility has been evacuated.”

Liccardo later confirmed the death of the tyrant.

“Our heart is saddened by the families we lost in this horrific shooting,” he tweeted.

The mayor said more information will be provided later Wednesday morning.
